Who should take this course

Insurance underwriting is common to all markets and fundamental to the business of insurance, no matter where in the world it takes place.
This unit aims to provide you with an understanding of the basic principles of underwriting which you can then apply to the specifics of your region.

It is aimed for all those involved in the core operations of insurance companies from early to mid career level. It also provides valuable learning for those working outside the insurance industry but involved in purchasing insurance on behalf of their employer

On completion of this unit you will earns you 15 credits towards completion of the Certificate in Insurance which is a benchmark qualification from teh Chartered Insurance Institute for all professionals working in the insurance sector.

What you will earn

Once you pass the examination, you will receive a "Record of Achievement" from the CII to demonstrate that you passed this unit. Furthermore, you will also earn 15 credits from the CII that count for completion of the Certificate in Insurance.

How you will be assessed

Assessment is through an online exam comprising 75 multiple choice questions (MCQs) in two hours.

You may take the examination in your own home or office with remote invigilation and subject to certain conditions or at a PSI centre.

How much time you need to dedicate

This really depends on you and which learning method you choose. As a minimum we recommend that you set aside 100 hours of which 36 hours will be guided learning through our blended learning or our pre-recorded interactive video lessons. You will also need time for practice quizzes, review questions and further learning resources and activities that we have prepared for you for private study

The important thing is to keep the pace. Make sure that you can dedicate at least 10 to 12 hours each week for lessons and revision, schedule them and stick with your timetable.
